This is a late nod to our holiday for Love.
Six days after February 14th, I finally opened mail that my husband brought to me from AZ.
One of the gems: a Galentines Gift Bag, from my friend and Nevermores poetry partner, Marcie.
So much fun! I crafted a found poem from the snippets of words it contained:
Galentines Gift Bag
poetry goodies
a photo she snapped
card catalog entries
paint swatch names
and culinary P’s
a wintry journal
for walking with words
The news about dinosaurs
what could you see?
adventures in looking
Posy Pink please
pea bean and peanut…
such high esteem
and Field Notes for filling up
good information

On January 21, 2017 – 7 years ago! – I protested a presidency, carrying a sign:
WORDS MATTER!
They still do…and I may need to resurrect the sentiment and the sign in a few months.
But I’m grateful that my connection to both the Nevermores and the Poetry Friday community has brought a happier understanding of those two words.

The Nevermores are seven weeks into our third year of writing poems every week. When we talked about themes for the coming year, connection seemed a perfect fit.
words matter
connected in time across weeks
sharing prompts, weaving words,
encouragement
bits and pieces of our lives
tucked inside
precious bonds of friendship
It’s Poetry Friday!

Oh hooray!!! So glad you got the Galentine’s Day goodies. I hope you have fun with them. 🙂 And heck yes, words matter! I love that protest sign.
Such riches in your gift bag. Fab idea to write a found poem inspired by it!
Words do matter! Thank you for sharing the poem and goodies in the gift bag with us.
Yes, words matter! Great sign. What a sweet gift bag! Thanks for sharing it with us 🙂
I love both of these poems! especially Words Matter … so true, in every realm of our lives, from the personal to the public. Your poem is a lovely reminder of the power words have to connect us – so important to remember when we witness words being used to divide …
How great to make a found poem from a fun gift. And to be part of a group that encourages your words!
Words do matter and connections as well! How wonderful for you (and us!) that you have valued and nurtured both in your life!
Words Matter, Patricia. I am so glad that I have made a connection with you. I enjoy your words, especially those weaved together with your Galentine’s Goodies from Marcie. The showcased her work is creative and clever. “a wintry journal
for walking with words” – how special!
Hi Patricia, the love of words and connections makes a mighty impact as your words and your connections show in the post. Lovely bounty from Marcie, that and more ‘tucked inside’!
Wow, writing poems weekly with the group for three years–that’s amazing! Words do matter, so much–thank you for your, Patricia!
Words matter…and so do connections. Nothing better than a writing group, is there?
I always feel better after reading your posts, Patricia! Words, connections…love matters. Thanks for sharing the love. <3
