It’s Poetry Friday!
Mary Lee at A(nother) Year of Reading is our host.Â
The Nevermores tried the monotetra form – inspired by Alan J. Wright and last week’s Poetry Sisters posts. Alas, having spent most of the week at 11,000 feet in the John Muir Wilderness, I only had time for one stanza. I came home to a houseful of kids and one adorable little boy who came to celebrate a very special day.
Happy Birthday, Grayson!
Turning One
I love this! And the joy that you came home to!
No better homecoming!
Oh, so adorable! “Cake for me” really captures it! Happy birthday, Grayson!
Right? This form’s repeated last line brings the poem home.
Happy Birthday to Grayson! Those one year birthdays are so joyful and that’s what comes through in your poem!
Yes! All about the joy!
Brilliant! A poem about turning one needs nothing more than one stanza, and you’ve written a perfect single-stanza monotetra for Grayson!
Thanks, Mary Lee. His joy made it very easy!
Jubilant and charming! Glad you’ve been having fun 🙂
I saw your pics on FB, love how you celebrated your homecoming with that special grandson, He’s ONE! Perfect! ~ Linda B
It’s just perfect! It’s just perfect!
Oh yes, nothing’s more fun than boxes and bows and wrapping paper! 🙂 Such a special birthday. <3
Patricia, wow, how beautiful and sweet. I love the long e rhymes on each line–the perfect subject for your monotetra. So playful and full of love and joy. Happy birthday to Grayson!
Oh, what a delightful poem. It’s pure joy. A perfect match of form to content. (Cute kiddie, too! The icing on the cake!😋)
That is a darling poem, Patricia!
Hooray! Hooray! It’s a birthday! What a great way to bring your life and house full of kids into poeming.
Yes, “cake for me!” (And what a fun birthday photo!)
Sounds like a brilliant summer over there – Happy Birthday to your Grayson! We had such fun celebrating Sawyer’s first birthday in June. :0)
What a great picture! Cake for me! Yes!
A monotetra moment, Patricia! Quite a special celebration now captured in words, images and a super cake. Happy birthday, Grayson.
Oh, how darling (and I’m sure that the greatest glee is cake for me, cake for me)!
Cake for me! Cake for me! So adorable. And Muir Woods! You packed a lot in and still produced a perfect little poem 🙂
