It’s Poetry Friday!
Carol Varsalona hosts the round up this week at Beyond LiteracyLink.
Carol invited us to share a picture and poem about the end of summer.
As you can see from the image above, some of us are sadder than others to say goodbye to the season.
summer’s end
arise, silent sky
mountain’s shy hello, goodbye
summer’s last sunrise
photo and poem ©2023, Patricia J. Franz
Okay, technically, I took this picture a few mornings ago…and it’s a good thing because summer actually chose to leave in glorious, if early rush — ceding the mountains to our first fall hailstorm, but also cool, quiet days. Welcome, Autumn!
Hi Patricia. Your three pine rising up into the ornage glory pull me to them & I want to know their name.
Also, a bit of serendipity with your poem – “Hello/Goodbye” is the Beatles tune in my head as I just sent a my song /poem to that tune, to a pal in hopes he will record it. I love the idea of cooling, drilling down on the ground hail. We are Still In Summer in Florida, North. More autumnal adventures to you &. your Family.
Awesome sunrise! “Hello, goodbye” – so bittersweet.
Beautiful. So peaceful!! Love the dog photo too. 🙂
Lovely end to a season, Patricia. I love fall and your special place in the mountains looks beautiful. I’ll have to write, in response to Carol’s invitation, a poem about the beautiful sunset we had a few days ago. Thank you for sharing your haiku.
Good things are worth the wait, Patricia. Your sunrise shots is a corker! Your poem captures the essence of summer’s end. A brief poem using words so effectively. Summer’s End reminds me of a song by the late John Prine…
Patricia, gorgeous shot and words that capture the moment, and what a beautiful ball of coziness in your armchair!
It’s bitter sweet…much like Tabatha’s poem this week. I’ll miss summer but oh, I love Fall. Love your pup in the chair that they’ve outgrown. LOL.
What an amazing last sunrise and sad “mountain’s . . . goodbye.” Thanks for sharing these and the hail.
Patricia, early morning salutations to you for the wonderful end of summer image poem. It is simple yet effective at catching our interest. I took a screenshot to place on the Destination: Summer’s End Padlet. I will add your name to it. I hope this is fine with you. Your dog must have had late coming Dog Days recollections. What an adorable digitized photo.
Oh, I just love that dog photo with the watchful eye!!
Ah, the last sunset of summer. I welcome fall.
What a beautiful sunrise! I’m sad to say goodbye to summer, so saying a “shy hello” to fall works for me.
How quickly it changes, Patricia. Wow, hail! The first picture does feel a bit somber and your sunrise picture is glorious. I love the “mountain’s shy hello, goodbye”. Until next time. . . Happy fall to you on your mountain!
Arriving or leaving, your seasonal photo and poem are welcomed. What a sweet pooch. 🙂
Your poor doggo. He looks like summer has dog-gone 🙂 But your poem and image are just lovely 🙂
You know how to savor your beautiful locale even when it pelts you with summer’s end…frozeness! Beautiful sunrise photo and a pat to your cozy pooch there.
Patricia, I love the position of “hello, goodbye” in your poem. Wow! An early hailstorm! I’m here for the quiet and cool days of autumn!
