Poetryaction
When I first saw this word, I wasn’t sure if it was to be read Poetry Action or Poet Reaction. Either way, this is a playful response to a picture book, developed by Laura Purdie Salas (read more of her poetryactions here).
What I love about this form is that it is meant to be short, simple, and fun. Plus it can serve as a mini-book report for children – or, in my case, a book review!
a poetryaction inspired by:
LISTEN TO THE LANGUAGE OF TREES
(words by Tera Kelley/ pictures by Marie Hermansson)
Miracle and Mystery
squirrels scatter seeds
seedlings become trees
trees pass secrets
through roots that feed
the forest is miracle
and mystery
