The Kyrielle
A French poetic form that originated as troubadour poetry – that is, themes of war, chivalry, or courtly love. One possible form is composed with aabb rhyming couplets ending with the same word that serves as a refrain.
Alternatively, two or more stanzas of four lines each, with the fourth line repeating as a refrain, and with a different rhyme scheme: abab, aaab, or abcb.
Whichever form, all lines must contain 8 syllables. For the record: I did not adhere to any of the suggested rhyme schemes. I landed on a tongue-in-cheek consideration of chivalry and ran with it!
