30 Poems in 30 Days with 30 Forms
Ekphrastic poetry…
…is poetry inspired by another form of art! I spent an afternoon wandering through the Phoenix Art Museum last week. Each piece, whether sculpture or painting or photograph, sparked a conversation. Sometimes it was inspired by the title. Sometimes it was a gut-level response.
My nephew is a middle-school math teacher. He often posts math problems on social media and I attempt to solve them. But when I saw the piece below, I had a distinct sense, this equation was asking a question.
Patricia Franz writes picture books and poetry. She believes children, dogs, and sourdough have a lot to teach us about life, joy, and wonder. She has raised two boys, four dogs, and holds a master’s degree in Theology with a focus on children’s spirituality. Patricia, her husband, her Bernese Mountain dog, Bonny, and her sourdough starter split their time between the Arizona desert and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Patricia, just wow!!! Please excuse my dear aunt Sally, right? Pemdas!!! And how intriguing to work with a color wheel…..I am checking in periodically on NPW projects. They are often so intriguing. I am posting on Fb and sent you a friend request as Janet Clare. If you are active there maybe you will want to take a look.

Janet, thanks for stopping by (and for the Fbook nudge)! There is so much in that piece of art, isn’t there!
