Thank you to Tabatha Yeatts for her steadfast spotlighting of brave people standing up for freedom. I found a poem in her latest inspirational post. (photo credit: Sasquatch.Stitches see below).

Patricia Franz writes picture books and poetry. She believes children, dogs, and sourdough have a lot to teach us about life, joy, and wonder. She has raised two boys, four dogs, and holds a master’s degree in Theology with a focus on children’s spirituality. Patricia, her husband, her Bernese Mountain dog, Bonny, and her sourdough starter split their time between the Arizona desert and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Thanks, Patricia! I like how you picked joyful, powerful words. Taking a moral stance IS a risk…might as well be as celebratory as you can make it!
Timely and appreciated!! Thank you. 🙂
Patricia, I agree with Tabatha’s comment. You picked out powerful and empowering words from her email. Thank you for doing this; great idea. I love the quilt photo that Tabatha shared too. Here’s to courage in this dark chapter!
May we all have the courage to stand up for ourselves and for others and for what we know to be right. <3 Americans, we're all thinking of you!
Being here this week is a huge boost to me, Patricia, and now seeing how you’ve managed to bring the energy and hope to us from Mary Lee’s words makes my day even better! It’s awesome!
Sing it out, friend!
As Stephen Colbert recently said, “Sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it. My friends, I have never loved my country more desperately. God bless America. Be strong. Be brave. And if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor.”
Thank you for this, Patricia. May we all be able to find the courage we need at just the right time. I’ll be with some friends today that I went to high school with. While I don’t anticipate the conversation to center around politics, it may, and I most likely will be in the minority. Will be digging deep for courage.
It is a time of great risk and need for courage. Thanks for sharing your found poem. Here’s to keeping moral stances. They feel wobbly these days.
Amen and amen.
Amen. Yes, I hate that we are called to this. But, I’d rather be courageous before putting my kids out there to have to do it.
Yes… it is a time for courage. Your poem shows how you can still find the positive, inspiring words among the tough articles we read.
I hope curbed action of harassing instigators follows the moral stances, thanks for your poem!
Patricia, may your voice be heard loud and strong. You captured worthy thoughts captured:

A found poem feels like the perfect format for these days. We have to pick carefully where our energy and attention goes as we’re bombarded with horrible news, lies, etc.
Thank you, Patricia – for YOUR courage – and your poet’s eye and ear alert to find inspiration in unexpected places during these challenging times (mostly for non-white folks, but for all of us, too). – Robyn HB
